SIMULATION SCENARIOS

What follows are a selection of fully scripted simulated scenarios, they are written to engage with the full selection of simulation suite technologies but can also be easily adapted to use with a patient actor and/or facilitator if this equipment isn't available. In addition to this, we have also created communication scenarios that need no special resources and focus specifically on difficult communication skills which are so often stumbling blocks for students during OSCEs.
Sore throat simulation.docx

Now this is a thoroughly adaptable scenario offering the opportunity to practice complex communication for professionals of all levels. This would be a great scenario to cover if you are early in you medical school career or even if you are applying to medical school soon but it can also provide a surprising challenge to those more experienced students/ professionals for whom the bar should be set higher and the situation made more difficult, diagnosis and recognition of features of a bacterial illness should be done without prompt and a considerate and empathetic should be used to meter the disappointment this patient may show. We hope you enjoy the scenario and please feel free to comment and help us improve this resource. Links to further information are provided in the document.
